ATLANTIC WAVES VOLTA A DAR CARTAS (LUSAS) EM LONDRES, DE 1 A 11 DE NOVEMBRO

O Atlantic Waves/London Internacional Festival of Exploratory Music volta a dar cartas (lusas) em Londres, de 1 a 11 de Novembro. O festival organizado pela secção londrina da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian terá amanhã a sua inauguração, com o espectáculo The Grand Divas of Fado, e tem este ano o apoio institucional do Tuismo de Portugal, dando força à decorrente campanha de promoção do turismo luso na capital de Inglaterra. O programa da edição deste ano do Atlantic Waves será o seguinte:

Atlantic Waves launches this year's festival with a celebration of mesmerizing voices, recreating a Portuguese traditional Grand Fado Night. On offer is a five star line-up featuring three generations of fado divas – legendary singers Beatriz da Conceição and Maria da Fé, prime fadistas Mafalda Arnauth and Aldina Duarte, and young talents Joana Amendoeira and Raquel Tavares. A traditional fado combo of virtuosic players – Ricardo Cruz (double bass), Luis Pontes (classical guitar) and Paulo Parreira (Portuguese guitar) – accompanies all six singers.

Portuguese Guitar Masters

The Portuguese guitar, best known for accompanying fado, makes its UK debut in a leading role. Three of the most respected Portuguese guitar players, revered master António Chaínho, sophisticated innovator Custódio Castelo and young talent Ricardo Parreira demonstrate their variety of approaches to mastering the tear-shaped, 12-stringed instrument.

Plus a screening of the documentary Lusophony, The (R)evolution by Red Bull Music Academy.

Ghettotrash clubnight presenting the best in urban lusophone dance music brings shantytown hardcore partying to the heart of London. This electronic carnival-like experience of sensual dancers and contagious sounds brings together raw modern party rhythms from across three continents, featuring baile funk godfather DJ Marlboro (Brazil); kuduro pioneer Frederic Galliano Kuduro Sound System (Angola/France); and grime/dancehall combo Macacos do Chinês (Cape Verde/Portugal).
